Full day tour from Ohrid to National Park Mavrovo. On the way to Mavrovo, we will visit some towns and picturesque mountain villages. We will drive in the mountain area with beautiful views of canyons and rivers and variety of plants. National Park Mavrovo is the biggest national park in Macedonia.
The road passes through the valley of the Black Drim River, and two other artificial lakes – Lake Debar and Lake Globocica.

Full day tour from Ohrid to National Park Mavrovo. On the way to Mavrovo, we will visit some towns and picturesque mountain villages. We will drive in the mountain area with beautiful views of canyons and rivers and variety of plants. National Park Mavrovo is the biggest national park in Macedonia.
The road passes through the valley of the Crni Drim River, and two other artificial lakes - Lake Debar and Lake Globocica. Our first stop is the church of St. George the Victorious in Rajcica near Debar colorful town where different religions and ethnic communities meet to live together in this small town. In this female monastery, from the 11th century, is kept part of the cross of Jesus and a small part of the hand of St. George the Victorious. The most important characteristic of this monastery is the handmade work of the monastic sisterhood. In silence and through praying, the nuns make unique, high-quality Orthodox priests’ crowns called “mitri”.
We continue to National Park Mavrovo. Near the village Rostushe it carved the most spectacular and grandiose waterfall in the western part of Macedonia, waterfall Duf. Easy hike of about forty minutes,
The waterfall is about 28 meters high and the extension of the Rostusha River. The uniqueness of this waterfall is the highest drop in the waterfall, which looks like the water gets into the well.
Than we drive to the famous monastery Saint John the Baptist of Bigorski, an active monastery with more than 20 monks. One of the most valuable treasures of the monastery is the iconostasis. This iconostasis is considered the most beautiful and most valuable iconostasis in carving with wood. In addition to the iconostasis, the monastery is also known by the icon of St. John the Baptist, which is believed to have a miraculous power.
The road will take us to Galicnik village which is most pronounced in the Macedonian culture and tradition. The very path is quite picturesque through forests and hills. The most important event in the village is the Galichnik Wedding, a traditional wedding custom that takes place every year in the summer (in July).
We drive around the artificial lake Mavrovo to see the most pictures sunken church of St. Nikola. This church was built in 1857 in the Mavrovo field which existed at that time. The church was submerged in 1957 in the process of building the hydro systems of Mavrovo.
On the way to Ohrid through Kicevo we will have a late traditional lunch in the restaurant “KAJ TETKA VIKI” in Mavrovo.
